Ever since her very first X-Factor audition, teenager Cher Lloyd has been by far and away the brightest and most dazzling star of the show, her talent undeniably rich and unique, so much so that i was moved to tweet back on September 5th Everyone else can go home now...Cher Lloyd is this years X-Factor starlet!
Not only do i still stand by those few words despite several of the other finalists putting in outstanding performances in the opening live show but i now amplify those sentiments a hundredfold having seen the recent blitz of media and internet attention directed towards her.
I thought that dainty Diana Vickers was the ultimate Marmite Girl who one either adored or loathed at a glance but the reaction to Cher takes it all to another level with entire legions lining-up to sling mud at the girl and just as many loyally standing behind her to defiantly champion her cause.
Personally, i think Cher has got Superstar written all over her.
She's edgy and unpredictable, streetwise sassy yet fragile, desperately brittle yet magnificently commanding once she has a microphone in her hand and an audience to beguile...she only has to take the stage and open her mouth in order to captivate and entrance a whole nation; one thing i'm certain of is that she's no way a mere flash-in-the-pan and certainly deserves better than to be burnt at the stake.
